What is a BCBA? A BCBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. To become a BCBA one must hold a Master's degree ,take 225 hours of specific coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, complete 1500 hours of fieldwork supervised by another BCBA andĀ  pass the Board Certification Exam.
What is a functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)?An assessment where the child is observedĀ  in their natural setting. The Behavior Analyst,BCBA, takes data on what occurs before and after the child exhibits specific behaviors.These behaviors are usually one's that are impeding the child's daily life. By collecting data on these behaviors the Behavior Analyst ,BCBA, can determine why(the function) the child is exhibiting these behaviors.After the assessment a behavioral program will be written to increase appropriate behaviors to replace the inappropriate behaviors the child was exhibiting.
What is the ABLL'S? The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning skills is a thorough assessment of a child's language,academic,social and fine/gross motor skills. The assessment is used to give your child's level of ability in these core areas. By assessing these areas the Behavior Analyst,BCBA can write a comprehensive ABA program to meet your child's needs.
