Laura Hernandez
received her Master’s degree,
in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Florida
Istitute of Technology in 2001. She
presently is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Prionr to
obtaining her
Masters she worked as a BCABA, Behavior Analyst at the Bachelor’s level,
within
the home and school setting providing behavioral therapy with an
emphasis in
verbal behavior. Over the past ten years Laura has worked extensively
with
children and adults with developmental disabilities, their families, and
school
personnel. She worked as a Behavior Analyst for the school system
helping
support several of their Autism programs. She provided trainings for
staff and
parents on the use of visual schedules and supports, direct instruction
using
discrete trials, Picture exchange communication system (PEC’s),
Behavioral
Intervention Plans, Verbal Behavior and positive behavioral supports.
Prior to
coming to Central Florida Behavioral
Hospital, Laura was the supervisor for
Baylor’s Our Childrens House, an outpatient therapy center in Dallas,
Texas.
Laura is currently Program Director for Central Florida Behavioral
Hospital's Autism Spectrum Disorder which treats all children and
adolescents on the spectrum.CEO/Behavior Analyst BCBA
Kyra Jacob
graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2001 with a
Bachelor’s
degree in Psychology. She is certified as a teacher in Exceptional
Education
K-12 and Elementary Education K-6. She has completed her Board Certified
Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCABA) coursework from the Florida Institute
of
Technology and is currently completing her supervision hours under a
BCBA. From
2001-2003, she taught students with therapeutic issues and Emotional
Behavior
Disabilities, grades 2-5, at Cherokee School in Orlando, FL. She then
taught
Remedial Reading to students with Varying Exceptionalities at Edgewater
High
School in Orlando, FL from 2003-2005. She returned to Cherokee School in
2005
and remained there until leaving Orange County Public Schools for the
private
sector in 2008. Kyra has also worked as a teacher during the summer
sessions at
La Amistad Residential Treatment Center in Maitland, FL, where she
taught
grades K-12 from 2002-2008. Upon leaving Orange County Public Schools,
she
worked as a Behavior Specialist at Central Florida Behavioral Hospital
on their
Autism unit, Sea Harbor. Kyra is currently teaching students with
autism,
grades 2-3, at The Paragon School in Orlando, FL. She is also working on
completing her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Kimberly
Whitefield graduated from the University of
Central Florida
with her Bachelors of
Arts in 2006. While earning her degree she worked in classrooms
with children with the diagnosis of Autism at United Cerebral Palsy of
Central Florida, between the ages of 3 and 5. After three years of
working there she moved on to Central Florida Behavioral hospital
working
specifically on their Sea Harbor Unit. A unit specially created for
children with the diagnosis of Autism. The children ranged
in age of 5 to 17.
It is there that she began the certification classes for her BCaBA
through the Florida Institute of Technology.
